CAD TECHNICIAN

Urbantech West, (Oakville) is looking to expand our team. We are actively seeking motivated, proactive, team driven individuals to join our design team. If you thrive in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment and seek new challenges then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for team members who have experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D on land development projects in the GTA as well as:

    1. •    Familiarity with interpreting and applying design standards and guidelines;
    2. •    Ability to work well within a dynamic team of engineers and technologists as well as      working under limited supervision;
    3. •    Skill at reading, analyzing, checking engineering drawings;
    4. •    Excellent communication skills are essential for a team-based environment;

Responsibilities include:

      •    Production of drawings for a variety of land development projects. Plans will consist of:

        1. •    grading;
        2. •    drainage and site servicing;
        3. •    natural channels, culverts, and flood plain mapping;
        4. •    stormwater management and low-impact design facilities;
        5. •    plan and profiles and sections;
        6. •    erosion and sediment control and construction staging plans;
        7. •    as-constructed drawings;
        8. •    site utilities including utility coordination;
        9. •    general drawing notes and specifications.
    1. •    Submission package preparation and co-ordination;
    2. •    Assistance with quantity take-offs for tendering;
    3. •    Preparation of figures and graphics in addition to detailed engineering drawings, when required;
    4. •    Preparation of earthworks analysis / 3D surface comparison; and
    5. •    Training and mentoring interns and junior staff when required.

Requirements:

      •    Completion of a college or university degree with a focus on drafting / municipal engineering using either AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D;

      •    3+ years of drafting & design experience working in 2D & 3D on municipal projects including roads, utilities, and subdivisions;

      •    A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software including Excel is required; and

      •    Knowledge of GIS, surveying, and the land development process is an asset.

CAD Technician / Junior Municipal Designer

Urbantech Consulting , (Markham) is seeking a CAD Technician who is motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is critical.

The successful candidate will have experience using AutoCAD and familiarity with land development projects in the GTA as well as :

    1. •    Ability to interpret and apply design standards and guidelines;
    2. •    Ability to work well within a dynamic team of engineers and technologists as well as working under limited supervision;
    3. •    Skill at reading, analyzing, checking engineering drawings;

WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER

Urbantech and Urbantech West, (Oakville) are looking to expand our team. We are actively seeking motivated, proactive, team driven individuals to join our water resources team. As a member of our Water Resources team, you will play a key role in the management, technical delivery, and quality of water resources design projects. This full-time position has a competitive salary and the following responsibilities and expectations:

  • Undertake work for water resources / stormwater management-related project design and technical studies.
  • Coordinate project needs and deliverables with other teams, clients, and consultants.
  • Provide direction to, and oversee, technical support staff to fulfill project needs.
  • Contribute to, and lead, proposal/bid opportunities.
  • Interact with clients and build client relationships
  • Produce reports and correspondence with a focus on high quality, clarity, and technical justification.
  • Complete field assessments, analysis and evaluations as required.

As a Water Resources Engineer with Urbantech Consulting, you will be involved in a variety of engineering tasks and projects, including:

  • Watercourse realignment planning, design and implementation.
  • Stormwater management planning, design and implementation.
  • Hydraulic analyses of sewer systems and channels.
  • Hydrologic analyses.
  • Floodplain mapping.
  • Certification of stormwater infrastructure.
  • Master Plan/Subwatershed Planning and Environmental Implementation studies.
  • Functional Servicing Studies and Detailed Design support.
  • Erosion & sediment control plans.
  • Permitting and approvals.
  • Water resources policy studies and guideline development.
  • Public and stakeholder consultation.


Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of local experience gained in the consulting industry or regulatory agency pertaining to water resources engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or E.I.T. with the Professional Engineers Ontario. Consideration will also be given to applicants who do not have a P.Eng. designation.
  • Water resources project experience in the public or private sector, particularly with respect to land development.
  • Ability to work independently and within a supportive team environment.
  • Knowledge of provincial and municipal environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • A creative edge and understanding of the gray area between theory and practicality.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage projects, deadlines, and clients.
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge in hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling platforms, and Excel.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and technical writing skills.
